Father’s Day 2024

Father’s Day 2024

Father’s Day is here and the scramble to find the perfect gift for your old man can be quite the daunting task. However, scramble no more. We are here with a weekend guide to some of the best Distilleries in Kentucky to celebrate in style! When gifting this weekend getaway, we highly recommend pairing the surprise with our Kentucky Bourbon Candleberry Candle or even our Tennessee Whiskey candle

When and Where to Stay

When planning your weekend getaway, we couldn’t recommend planning this trip during the fall enough. If you plan it right you can hit Keeneland in the morning, a distillery in the afternoon, and a wildcat football game that evening. You can’t convince us any dad wouldn’t love that lineup! One of our favorite hotels in Lexington is the 21C Museum Hotel.  The first two floors of this hotel downtown are a museum and the cocktails at their bar, the Lockbar, are divine!

Distillery Day

The real star of the show is the day where you get to hop from distillery to distillery tasting some of Kentucky’s finest and seeing some beautiful landscape along the way. We strongly recommend getting transportation to help ease the concern of driving, so you can fully immerse yourself in the tasting experiences! If you’re driving from Lexington, you can start your day at Woodford Reserve which gives you all the views of horse country and all the tastings of the goodness that is Woodford. After that, head over to Castle and Key to take in their gorgeous grounds, cocktails and tastings. They also have some corn hole sets out to play, there’s a creek that runs behind the property, they often have food trucks… it’s just really cool, and we honestly couldn’t recommend more. Last, but certainly not least we HIGHLY recommend visiting our neighbors Buffalo Trace. Some of their more premium brands like Weller, Eagle Rare, Blanton’s, E.H. Taylor, Sazerac Rye, Pappy Van Winkle, among others are also distilled at the Buffalo Trace location. If you are a collector of bourbons, you may want to consider doing the order we’ve suggested backwards (Start at Buffalo Trace and end at Woodford Reserve). The earlier you get to Buffalo Trace, the higher chance you have at getting your hands on a bottle of the rare stuff, for MSRP rather than a marked-up liquor store price. Each day they release a limited quantity of whatever is ready, and you don’t always know what they’re going to have until you get there. It could be E.H. Taylor, it could be Pappy, it could be Blanton’s!

If you have a third day to explore, we couldn’t recommend making the trip to Loretto, KY to visit Maker’s Mark. They have a delicious restaurant, an excellent tour, and you have the opportunity to dip your own bottle to take home as a souvenir!

We hope this guide serves you and your dad well. We wish all the dad’s out there a Happy Father’s Day!!
