Must-Visit Places in Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston, South Carolina is a city that is steeped in history and charm. It has been named the “Best City in the World” by Travel + Leisure Magazine and is known for its beautiful beaches, cobblestone streets, and antebellum architecture. However, Charleston is also home to a thriving culinary and retail scene. One of the best ways to take in the sights and scents of Charleston is with our Carolina Sugar Cane Mist candle that brings a sweet, lingering aroma to any space.

From farm-to-table restaurants to boutique shops, here are some must-visit places in Charleston.

  • Rainbow Row: One of Charleston's most iconic sights is Rainbow Row, a row of brightly colorful houses that has become a beloved symbol of the city. Located on East Bay Street, Rainbow Row is a cluster of 13 pastel-colored houses that date back to the 18th century. Each house has its own unique history and character. Visitors come from all over the world to take pictures of the houses and learn about their history. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or just want to take some colorful photos, this iconic street is sure to delight and inspire. So be sure to add Rainbow Row to your itinerary the next time you visit Charleston – you won't be disappointed.

  • The Charleston City Market: The Charleston City Market is a historic market that has been around since the early 1800s. Today, the market is a vibrant shopping destination filled with vendors selling everything from handmade jewelry to local souvenirs. The market is a great place to pick up unique gifts and souvenirs to bring home.

  • King Street: Take a bike ride along King Street to explore the best shops and a wide selection of restaurants. Start above Marion Square where you’ll pass J. Crew, Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and more. Check out 167 Raw to indulge in oysters with caviar and stop by their tequila bar to order a refreshing Paloma daiquiri. The restaurant doesn't take reservations, so be prepared to wait for a table, but trust us, it’s worth it. For an open kitchen experience, head to Chubby Fish for tuna crudo, octopus, and other fresh catches along with a unique array of dishes. We also recommend stopping in Savannah Bee Company for their honey tastings and luxurious body care.

  • The French Quarter: If you’re looking for a gorgeous area to chill outside in the shade, head to the Art District in the French Quarter to explore local architecture and history. For lunch, head to Harken Cafe & Bakery on Queen Street. Indulge in sweet treats, salads, biscuits, and creative lattes. For a southern cuisine with a modern twist, check out Husk, one of Charleston’s most famous restaurants, and for good reason. The menu changes regularly based on what’s in season, but you can always expect to find dishes like shrimp and grits, fried chicken, and mac and cheese.
